A once-in-a-lifetime private tour of Vietnam and Cambodia’s Temples of Angkor, with highlights including a luxury Halong Bay cruise, city walking tours, a five-star beach break, farm experience and more

Days 1-3: Hanoi

For your first full day, you’ll rise early and visit a temple in the middle of Hoan Kiem lake, stopping at a local cafe to try Hanoian coffee. Tuck into a crusty banh mi baguette before delving beneath the surface of the city on a walking tour of the Old Quarter and Huu Tiep Lake - where US B-5 bomber wreckage can be seen. Pause for lunch at a local Bun Cha restaurant, then continue to the Temple of Literature and a unique railway track that passes through a narrow residential street. Finish the day with a draft beer at a buzzy corner spot.

Days 3-4: Halong Bay

After two nights in the urban melee, travel to phenomenal Halong Bay. Spend the night on a junk ship with luxurious cabins and top facilities, taking in the surreal karst scenery of Bai Tu Long Bay - a quieter alternative to the typical route. Swim, kayak and relax as you explore this beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site, where white-sand beaches and towering cliffs abound.

Days 4-6: Hue

Next, head to the old imperial capital of Hue - the seat of the Nguyen empire. First, you’ll visit the Forbidden Purple City, once closed to all but royalty. Afterwards, hop into a dragon boat and cruise along the Perfume River, stopping at a historic pagoda on the way to Thuy Bieu eco-village, where you’ll pick up ingredients for a cooking class. The tour ends with a visit to the tomb of one of Hue’s ancient emperors.

Day 6: Lang Co and Hoi An

Travel along the scenic National Highway 1, pausing at the famous Hai Van Pass - the boundary between the distinct climates of the North and South - to take photos of beautiful Lang Co beach. Arrive at the tranquil lagoon and explore by boat, observing the local fishing technique. Stop for a fresh seafood lunch at an authentic stilt house with mountain views.

Day 7: Hoi An

Get to Hoi An Central Market early to pick the best produce. On a walking tour, visit local workshops, cultural sites and learn about local riverside life. Join a family for lunch and learn lantern making, before trying a local noodle dish at a charming restaurant in the Ancient Town.

Days 8-9: Hoi An

Today, venture outside of Hoi An to visit Mr Phap’s organic farm. Cycle through the village and rice fields to the plantations, where you can try out your agricultural skills. Drop by a wood carving workshop and enjoy lunch with Mr Phap and his family. Later, discover My Son, a cluster of abandoned Hindu temples with UNESCO status.

Day 9: Ho Chi Minh City

Next, you’ll fly to ever-evolving Ho Chi Minh City, where you’ll head straight to the Cu Chi tunnels for a glimpse of wartime life underground.

Day 10: Ho Chi Minh City

After an iced coffee in Tao Dan Park, walk to Cho Lon in the heart of Chinatown. Uncover a secret bunker and the former Revolutionary Headquarters, before heading to an obscure rooftop spot for lunch overlooking the city. Finish the walking tour with a traditional tea tasting.

Days 11-15: Phu Quoc

Just off the coast of Vietnam, the island of Phu Quoc is the perfect place to unwind. Staying on the island’s western shore, opposite an impressive beach, you’ll never be far from the crystalline water. Nature lovers will be drawn to the jungle trails of Phu Quoc National Park - a sprawling expanse that covers much of the island.

Days 15-18: Siem Reap

Now, fly to Siem Reap: the gateway to one of the most awe-inspiring archeological sites in Southeast Asia. Head out for a full day of temple touring with a private guide and tuk-tuk driver, starting at the South Gate of Angkor Thom. You’ll take in the Terrace of Elephants, the root-tangled Ta Prohm and of course, Angkor Wat. In the evening, marvel at the Cambodian Circus, and spend the following day at leisure.

Days 18-19: Hanoi

Spend the last night in Hanoi before your flight home.
