A buzzy boutique Midtown hotel in the heart of the action, featuring excellent dining and a rooftop lounge overlooking the Big Apple

If you’re looking for a hotel that’s bold, sleek and stylish from top to bottom, Viceroy Central Park is it. The Condé Nast Traveller Readers' Choice Award 2017 winner, which is endorsed by ELLE, Forbes Travel Guide, Harpers Bazaar and Time Out New York, is best known for its rooftop bar, which affords unbelievable views of New York.

Ride the lift down a few floors, and you’ll find sharply designed rooms by Roman and Williams that reference the golden age of travel and feature Beats by Dr. Dre Beatboxes. And of course, things are no less fashionable on street level, with buzzed-about new-American eatery Kingside Restaurant open late into the night and serving up dishes such as salt-and-pepper fries and plate of corn-and-burrata ravioli.

Out on 57th Street itself, you’ll happen upon some other rather fabulous NYC destinations: Both Carnegie Hall and the Russian Tea Room – one of the world’s most iconic restaurants – are a few doors over. Within a slightly larger (three-block) radius of Viceroy are the Museum of Modern Art; Fifth Avenue; Columbus Circle; and, of course, the hotel’s namesake Central Park. You’ll also find that it’s also unexpectedly easy to travel farther afield, with local subway lines taking you as far north as Washington Heights and as far south as the Financial District (and beyond). Because in a city that’s also fabulous from top to bottom, neighbourhoods don’t get much better located than Midtown.

Good to know

Please note that a resort fee of $29 (plus tax) per room, per night is payable directly to the hotel. The resort fee includes bottled Viceroy water; Wi-Fi for up to four devices at 5MB bandwidth; local phone calls; unlimited access to the 24-hour fitness center; and a $10 food-and-beverage credit per room, per night. Please note that the food-and-beverage credit may not be used at The Roof. Credit does not roll over and cannot be used with any other offer.

Excellent for
City Sightseeing Long-haul Romance Hotel

Designed by Roman and Williams, rooms and suites here are smartly appointed, with amenities like walk-in rain showers and Beats by Dr. Dre Beatbox portable sound systems. The style is inspired by a ship’s cabin in travel’s golden age, so in addition to finding sleek marble in your bathroom, you can expect touches touches of leather, brass, aluminium and Iroko wood.

Viceroy Superior rooms measure 250 square feet and boast a quiet location at the back of the hotel. The identical Viceroy Deluxe room, meanwhile, is positioned right on bustling 57th Street.

Viceroy Junior suites, also overlooking 57th Street and located on the lower floors of the hotel, offer more space with their open-plan layout, which includes a central seating area. Even larger is the one-bedroom Viceroy Park suite, with its separate bedroom, spacious living space (which holds a queen-sized pull-out sofa and a wet bar) and – best of all – uninterrupted Central Park views.

Viceroy Central Park’s main dining option is Kingside Restaurant, a new-American eatery by Gerber Group, serving three meals a day, as well as expertly mixed cocktails.

The menu, which references Murphy's French and Italian heritage, features dishes such as lemon-ricotta pancakes, burgers and plates of zucca-mascarpone pasta. This spot is on street level, but if you’re up for a quick ride on the elevator, you’re in for a real treat: The hotel’s indoor-outdoor rooftop bar, The Roof, affords panoramic views of Central Park and the surrounding city.

When people talk about "the centre of the action," this is what they’re talking about. Viceroy Central Park is just a handful of blocks from Columbus Circle, Carnegie Hall, Fifth Avenue, the Museum of Modern Art, and (of course) Central Park. Just another ten or so blocks are Times Square and the Theatre District, and on your way to any of these places, you'll likely stumble upon a subway line or two – perfect for whisking yourself off to any other attraction or neighbourhood you wish to visit.
