Discover the rugged, unspoilt charms of Akureyri in Northern Iceland, complete with a modern hotel stay, breakfast, a Northern Lights tour, Lake Myvatn adventure and all travel

Iceland is a spellbinding place, buzzing with a natural energy that's unrivalled the world over. From bubbling geothermal hot springs that burst from the ground as geysers, to virile volcanoes that form a lacework of lava labyrinths - its scenery is the stuff of legends. Gentle giants dwell beneath the sea's surface, whilst up in the sky the Northern Lights dance as enigmatically as ever.

Discover it all with this fantastic trip - the only direct break from the UK to Akureyri, which offers far fewer tourists, less traffic, a more authentic, unspoilt landscape, and an even greater chance of spotting the elusive Aurora Borealis - which you may get to do with an included Northern Lights hunt. You'll also embark on an adventure to Lake Myvatn to see the Godafoss waterfall and the boiling mud pools of Namafjall, alongside an opportunity to visit Myvatn Nature Baths.

Your base for this breathtaking escape is Icelandair Hotel Akureyri. Akureyri itself is situated in northeast Iceland, in one of the country's longest fjords and just 60 kilometres south of the Arctic Circle, affording it some stunning surrounding scenery. You'll have time to explore the city in-between excursions; take the opportunity to visit the handful of museums, discover the culinary thrills justifying Akureyri's title as Iceland's foodie capital, or swim in one of Iceland's most popular swimming pools.

Good to know

Please note that you will be flying out from a choice of regional airports only.

Entry to Lake Myvatn Baths is not included but can be added to your booking at a supplement of £27.50 per person. Please contact our supplier to add this to your booking.
