Sumptuous interiors meet high-tech comforts at a hip five-star hotel in Greece’s second-largest city - includes breakfast, an optional Wine Lovers' Experience, and more
  • Easy-going atmosphere: From the Greek word for ‘name’, the five-star Onoma Hotel is all about carving the ultimate individual experience during your stay. Urban-chic meets digital décor at this insta-worthy pad, where muted tones give way to neon lighting and geometric sculptures for a contemporary feel. These vibes are carried through to the stylish guest rooms, where colourful accents pop against the sultry charcoal-gray interiors.

  • Vibes and bites: Rise and shine for a rich continental breakfast or Sunday Brunch buffet in the morning, and return to the hotel's Good Mood Food Restaurant to savour hearty comfort- and street-food-style cuisine with an innovative local flair. Elsewhere, the Street Art bar serves coffee and cocktails in an uber-hip setting, while the stunning Cloud Bar is your go-to for panoramic views and a dip in the pool.

Monastiriou 24, Thessaloniki 546 29, Greece

Set against a backdrop of Roman ruins, grand 4th-century monuments and sweeping Aegean vistas, Thessaloniki has plenty to offer sun seekers and culture vultures alike. Known as Greece’s second largest city, this urban sprawl expertly blends old and new, with high-end shopping and a thriving foodie scene rubbing shoulders with ancient buildings dating back to the Ottoman Empire.

Spend sun-soaked days strolling along the buzzy waterfront area sprinkled with rustic tavernas, ticking off the vast array of monuments - from the Arch of Galerius to the Crypt of Agios Demetrios - or climbing to the hilltop Eptapyrgio Castle for some of the best views in the city. At night, head to the thriving Ladadika area, where the sound of live music and outdoor diners sharing stories over a bottle (or two) of wine creates a lively backdrop.
