A mesmerising discovery tour of Jordan with an incredible Nile cruise to the Valley of the Kings, and much more – includes breakfast and dinner, tours and excursions, and all travel

We are working with hotels to ensure that they comply with the public health regulations regarding COVID-19.

Day 1: Amman

You’ll touch down in Amman, Jordan’s cultural capital brimming with busy markets, fragrant spices, and distinct architecture. Spend your first day getting acquainted with your new surroundings, or opt to spend a relaxing day at the Ma’in Hot Springs Resort & Spa: bathe in therapeutic hot springs before soaking up views of the Dead Sea and Jordan Valley (chargeable).

Day 2: Amman & Jerash

The next morning, start early with a city tour of Amman. You’ll get to visit plenty of the city’s highlights as well as witnessing the ancient Roman city of Jerash, from its colonnaded streets, hilltop temples and theatres to its public squares, baths and city walls. Afterwards, you'll travel to northern Jordan to see one of the Middle East's most important ecological and historical sites - Ajloun. Built in 1184AD to scupper the Crusaders, the astonishing hilltop Ajloun Castle (Qal'at Ar~Rabad) is a fine example of Islamic architecture. It’s then back to Amman for the evening, where you can try out local delicacies at the market and prepare for another day of sightseeing.

Day 3: Amman - Dead Sea - Amman

It’s time to venture further afield for a day, and leave the city behind to visit a trio of castles including the UNESCO-listed Amra Castle, and Al Azraq Castle, where Lawrence of Arabia resided and wrote part of his book, The Seven Pillars of Wisdom. When you think things can’t get more special, it’s time to visit one of the most unusual sights in the world: the Dead Sea. It’s the lowest body of water on earth (in fact, it’s the lowest point on earth), and the world's richest source of natural salts, hiding wonderful treasures that accumulated throughout thousands of years.

Day 4: Amman - Madaba - Mount Nebo - Petra

Around 40 minutes' drive from Amman, the city of Madaba is home to the renowned 6th-century mosaic map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land that was discovered and henceforth preserved on the floor of the Greek Orthodox St George's Church. Gaze at the intricate Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics before driving nine kilometres out of the city to Mount Nebo - mentioned in the Bible as the place where Moses was shown the Promised Land that he wasn't permitted to enter. You'll finally drive to your next accommodation, which will be home for two nights.

Day 5: Petra

Today's your chance to see the majestic Nabatean city of Petra, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Be awed into silence by the vast sandstone city which holds hundreds of tombs elaborately cut into the rock, a treasury, a Roman-style theatre carved out of the pinkish bedrock, temples, sacrificial altars and colonnaded streets. Let your inner-Indiana Jones run wild as you explore this ancient beauty, before being driven back to your hotel for one further night.

Day 6: Petra - Wadi Rum

From Petra's commanding ruins, you'll travel further south into the magical desert of Wadi Rum, described by T.E. Lawrence as ‘vast, echoing, and god-like,’ and named by the locals as the Valley of the Moon. First though, you’ll stop off at the lesser known but equally impressive Little Petra, a narrow gorge two metres wide with even more exquisite examples of Nabataean architecture.

Once you’ve arrived at Wadi Rum, the adventures begin: start with a 4x4 Jeep ride across the lunar-like landscapes for an unforgettable experience, before settling in to Mazayen Rum Camp for a truly magical night under the stars.

Day 7: Wadi Rum - Amman

After a delicious breakfast at the Wadi Rum camp, you’ll be transferred back to vibrant Amman. Spend the day as you wish, picking up last-minute trinkets and enjoying your last full evening in Jordan as well as one final night back at your first hotel.

Day 8: Amman - Cairo

Today you bid farewell to Jordan by hopping on a plane and flying to Egypt’s capital – Cairo. After settling in at your hotel, the rest of the day is to be spent at your leisure, either chilling out in your new abode, or heading straight out and immersing yourself in this historic city.

Day 9: Cairo

After breakfast you’ll embark on a fascinating tour of Cairo. Starting at the Giza plateau, you’ll be able to gaze out and admire one of the most recognisable sights the world over – the mighty three Pyramids and Sphinx. After touring these 4,500-year-old monuments, the rest of the day is yours to do as you will, and in the evening you have the option of attending a surreal sound and light show on the pyramids at night.

Day 10: Cairo - Luxor

On Day 10 you’ll start with breakfast in the hotel before taking a brief flight to Luxor, where you’ll board your luxurious Nile cruise ship. After lunch onboard with brilliant river views (a sign of things to come!) you’ll be taken back in time with trips to some staggering ancient temples, such as the Temples of Karnak and Luxor. The rest of the day is yours to spend how you wish, so why not get to grips with some of the ship's first-class amenities?

Day 11: Luxor - Edfu

Before the ship sets sail for Edfu, you have time to see one of Egypt’s most revered and regal landmarks – The Valley of the Kings. Subsequently, it's off to The Valley of the Queens and the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, a striking site beneath the cliffs at Deir el-Bahari. After exploring the Colossi of Memnon, it's back to the ship and on to Edfu.

Day 12: Edfu - Kom Ombo - Aswan

Today you have more of the most fascinating ancient sites in store. The day begins with a thrilling buggy ride to the magnificent Temple of Horus, before sailing down the Nile and onto Kom Ombo. Here you’ll be taken to the twin Temples of Haroeris and Sobek, as well as the amazing Nilometer which was used in the ancient days to determine whether the people would be subjected to prosperity or famine in a given year. Afterwards, it’s back on board to relax as the ship makes its way onto Aswan.

Day 13: Aswan

You’ll want to get out and see as much of Aswan as you can today, not least the famous granite quarry, where most of the stone that built ancient Egypt came from. The day includes an optional tour of Abu Simbel’s 11th century temples, and in the evening you’ll be able to enjoy a peaceful trip down the Nile in a felucca (a typical fishing boat).

Day 14: Aswan - Cairo

After a final breakfast on the boat you’ll disembark and catch a quick flight back to Cairo, where you have a final day to cram in as much as you can before leaving the next day. You also have the option of going on an excursion to hilltop Saladin Citadel with a walk through the Coptic Neighbourhood.

Day 15: Cairo - UK/Ireland

That’s all folks. It’s sadly time to leave and catch your return flight to the UK or Ireland.
