Escape to a beautiful hotel on the spectacular Ickworth estate, with breakfast and two-course dinner included

  • The Ickworth is found within the grand Ickworth stately home, a National Trust property which dates back to the early 1800s and is one of the country's most spectacular mansions. All rooms have period furnishings in keeping with the grand heritage of the estate, and some rooms feature lovely views over the estate.

  • Just a minute's walk away is a lovely heated indoor swimming pool, and within the hotel itself you'll find contemporary treatment rooms where massages, facials and reflexology treatments using the Elemis product range are available. Jessica manicures and pedicures are also on hand. If you're looking for something more active, play tennis on the hotel's courts or hire a bike to explore the National Trust parkland.

  • The two AA Rosette-awarded Frederick's Restaurant is the Ickworth's adults-only restaurant and is housed in the original dining room of the Hervey family. Sophisticated and mouth-watering candlelit meals from the contemporary menu are served looking out over the Italianate gardens. For something more casual, wine and dine in the environs of the conservatory.

The Ickworth is an hour and a half's drive from central London, following the M11 Northbound to Great Chesterford, where you'll join the A11 which eventually merges with the A14. Stay on the A14 until junction 42, from there it's a further 10 miles to the hotel. On-site parking is available at no extra cost.

If you'd rather come via public transport, hop aboard the train to Bury St Edmunds and get a taxi from the station - it's a 15-minute ride.

Travelling with kids?

The hotel offers plenty of services for younger visitors, from the kids' menu in the restaurant to the complimentary bottle-warming room service. In-room baby monitors are available, with staff on hand listening so parents can relax. Babysitting services are also available, plus there’s a crèche, a kids' club and a children’s games room, as well as a cinema room which screens a movie at 6pm each day. Please note that access to the crèche must be pre-booked, and is chargeable at £13 per child for two hours.

Moving outside, you’ll find a kids' play area with a fairy garden theme. It’s well-equipped, with a trampoline, climbing frames, swings and more. There’s a tennis court too, with equipment available from reception. The heated indoor swimming pool is stocked with floats and noodles.

Back in the guest rooms, you’ll find child-friendly facilities upon request, such as a changing mat, bottle steriliser, potty, nappy bins and bed guards.
