A luxe London stay at a traditional private members’ club in the glamorous heart of Mayfair, including breakfast

  • London living just got a bit posher at this traditional five-storey private members’ club in a refined and discreet Georgian townhouse in the heart of Mayfair, just two minutes from Green Park tube station.

  • The Fox Club really does have it all: plush interiors, a well-to-do clientele, and a fair bit of historic gravitas as the former home of glamorous courtesan Elizabeth Armistead, who was the mistress (and later wife) of flamboyant Whig politician Charles James Fox.

  • The sitting room is the perfect setting for delicious lunches and wonderful afternoon teas with finger sandwiches, scones and cakes. There’s a relaxed bar that serves excellent wines (reds, whites, roses), champagnes, and signature cocktails. The hotel can also provide a picnic hamper, comprising a blanket plus a selection of sandwiches, cakes, mini desserts and wine.

  • Named after Elizabeth Armistead’s lovers, you’ll find eight uniquely styled rooms, originally designed by Kit Kemp. Each features modern and vintage fixtures and fittings, seriously comfortable beds with luxurious double sprung mattresses and Egyptian cotton sheets, and marble bathrooms with a range of hedonistic bathroom amenities.

For first-timers and returning visitors, must-dos include maxing out your credit card along Burlington Arcade, stocking up on loose-leaf teas at Fortnum & Mason, and spending time at Handel & Hendrix in London - a restored Georgian house where composer George Frideric Handel and rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix lived at numbers 25 and 23 Brook Street respectively (albeit in different centuries).

Further thrills within easy distance include visiting the National Portrait Gallery, dipping your toes in the Diana Memorial Fountain at Hyde Park, and grabbing half-price tickets for West End shows at the TKTS theatre ticket booth in Leicester Square.
