Glacier Express

A Swiss adventure, with two charming stays and scenic views from the famed Glacier Express train - including breakfast and all travel

See some of Europe’s most spectacular scenery on a train trip through the Swiss Alps on the famed ‘Glacier Express’ railway – a designated UNESCO World Heritage site no less. With a journey that begins in Zermatt and concludes in Chur, along the way you’ll traverse the the dramatic Oberalp Pass at 2,033 metres above sea level.

The trip begins with a two-night stay in Zermatt, a mountain resort in southern Switzerland, known for its phenomenal landscape and world-class skiing and hiking. The resort is peacefully car-free and elegant, with traditional buildings and chalets creating a magical atmosphere. There's a good selection of bars, cafes and restaurants to try out and your hotel is just a 10-minute walk from the from the famous Matterhornbahn Paradise Bergbahn cableway, with views of one of the world's most iconic mountains.

Next you will board the legendary Glacier Express – Switzerland’s highest railway – and wind your way through villages, make a steep ascent above the Alpine treeline amidst dramatic glaciers, and voyage past the many castles of Switzerland’s Domleschg Valley, all en route to the village of Chur. With oversized panoramic windows and an emphasis on scenery rather than speed, the Glacier Express makes for a leisurely and stunningly memorable train ride.

After terminating in Chur, guests step off the platform into Switzerland’s oldest town and almost directly into Hotel ABC to enjoy a one- or two-night stay in this boutique, modern four-star setting. Over your time here, why not consider going for a day's hike, exploring the Old Town, or picking up a new timepiece at one of the town's watch shops. On your last day, you'll be transferred to Zurich for your flight home.
