Day 1: UK - Quito

Depart the UK for the Ecuadorian capital of Quito. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for check-in.

Day 2: Quito

Take a guided tour of some of the most emblematic sights of Quito, including the Historic Centre - a declared World Heritage Site. In the afternoon, head to the impressive Middle of the World monument, which marks the Equatorial Line. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 3: Quito – Otavalo – Quito


Enjoy an excursion to Otavalo, in the middle of the Andean highlands, to visit Otavalo Market - one of South America's largest indigenous markets. Later, visit some of the local communities, like the Peguche and Cotacachi, before returning to Quito. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 4: Quito – Papallacta – Tena

Depart for the jungle in the east of Ecuador, stopping to see Papallacta's hot springs en route. Continue to the edge of the Amazon, taking a canoe ride along the river. Arrive at your eco lodge in Tena in time for dinner and enjoy a night walk to get to know the nocturnal wildlife. (Meals: breakfast and dinner)

Day 5: Tena - La Selva - Tena

Take an early morning canoe ride to visit the Parrot Saladero - a unique place where parrots and parakeets gather to feed. Return to the lodge for breakfast, before heading out on a rainforest nature walk. After lunch, visit an Amazonian Kichwa community in La Selva to learn about their way of life. Try a traditional fermented cassava drink and enjoy a dance by the children. (Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner)

Day 6: Tena - Puyo - Baños

Transfer by canoe and travel by road to Puyo, where you can visit the YanaCocha Rescue Centre for Amazonian animals. Continue towards Baños and stop en route at the wonderful Pailón del Diablo waterfall. Arrive in Baños, a subtropical area famous for its hot springs, and check into your hotel. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 7: Baños


Spend the day at leisure in Baños. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 8: Baños - Quilotoa – Tigua – Lasso


Set off for Quilotoa Lagoon, a mesmerising crater lagoon that changes colour according to the sun's rays. Then visit Tigua, a group of communities famous for their paintings. Continue along the volcano route northwards towards Lasso and check into your hotel. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 9: Lasso - Cotopaxi – Quito

In the morning visit Cotopaxi National Park, home to the majestic Cotopaxi Volcano (Ecuador’s tallest) with its perfect cone shape. Head back to Quito and check into your hotel. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 10: Quito – Galápagos (Santa Cruz)

Fly to Baltra, in the Galápagos Islands. From Baltra, transfer to Santa Cruz, stopping in the highlands to see the famous giant tortoises. After lunch at a local ranch, take a walking tour, before checking into your Santa Cruz hotel. (Meals: breakfast and lunch)

Day 11: Galápagos (Santa Cruz)


This morning, tour Puerto Ayora Bay to see its sea turtles (if you're lucky enough to spot one) and abundance of wildlife. Spend the afternoon at leisure. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 12: Galápagos (Santa Cruz)

Spend the day at leisure or take an optional (chargeable) boat trip to an uninhabited island to see rare wildlife, with lunch and snorkelling equipment included. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 13: Galápagos (Santa Cruz)

Explore the island of Santa Cruz with a local guide. Take a gentle walk to Tortuga Beach and visit the Charles Darwin Research Station to understand more about the local flora and fauna. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 14: Galápagos (Santa Cruz) - Guayaquil

Head back to the mainland, make your way to Guayaquil and check into your city centre hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 15: Guayaquil – UK

After breakfast, fly back home on an overnight flight.

In short, you pay Secret Escapes a non-refundable deposit to secure your holiday, then you pay the holiday supplier the remaining balance of the holiday - as advertised - at a later date (before you travel).

We've added deposit-only sales to enable our members to get early-bird access to more amazing holidays, and because we know that planning and paying for a holiday can take time.
