You'll be waking up in the heart of Milton Keynes, the 1970s 'new town' built on a swathe of history-rich Bucks villages and farmland and with a meticulous town layout you'll soon pick up. You're surrounded by a plethora of restaurants and shops here. If you're seeking adrenaline, pick out sporty threads at the vast centre:mk shopping mall nearby and head straight to Snozone for incredible indoor skiing, snowboarding and sledging less than 20 minutes' stroll from the hotel or hop in the car for 10 minutes to scamper up colourful climbing walls at Big Rock Hub. A huge venue that draws crowds to the town is Stadium MK, 10 minutes' drive from your door - home to the MK Dons Football Club and host to large-scale live events and exhibitions.

A must-do here is Bletchley Park a 12-minute drive south of town, where brainy code-breakers saved the day multiple times throughout WWII. Admission includes the next door National Radio Centre too and fans of this theme should also tour the nearby National Museum of Computing, yet another Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice pick. A 20-minute drive away, the stately Woburn Abbey and Gardens is closed for renovations until spring 2022.
