Day 2: Chilaw - Wilpattu

On your second day, you’ll make your way to Wilpattu National Park for a Jeep safari. Staying at an award-winning and eco-pioneering boutique camp, you’ll explore Sri Lanka’s oldest national park, with its dense forest, lakes, abundant birdlife and large mammals, including leopards, elephants, water buffalo, sloth bears and spotted deer. After the sun sets, head out on a sense-stirring night walk and enjoy a barbecue dinner under a glittering sky.

Day 3: Wilpattu - Jaffna

Transfer to Anuradhapura, where you’ll take the train to Jaffna in the Northern Province, a somewhat off-beaten-path destination with a unique culture and character. Depending on your arrival time, you’ll either head out on a city tour this afternoon or the following morning.

Distance from Wilpattu: 320km

Day 4: Jaffna

Take a public boat to Nagadeepa, an islet that is a sacred place of worship for both Hindus and Buddhists. In the evening, learn the perfect way to prepare crab in a rich Jaffna curry.

Day 5: Jaffna - Dambulla

Today you’ll have the option to visit the ancient capital of Anuradhapura, which dates as far back as 5BC. Discover religious stupas, picturesque lakes and fascinating hydraulic constructions that demonstrate the amazing skills of its founding civilisation.

Distance from Jaffna: 250km

Day 6: Dambulla

In the morning, begin your tour with a visit to the phenomenal Sigiriya ‘Lion Rock’ Fortress, a towering citadel that you can climb for breathtaking views over the plains. Later, take a catamaran across a scenic reservoir to a local village, where you can take a walk through paddy fields and help to prepare a simple, traditional Sri Lankan lunch.

Day 7: Dambulla - Passikudah

Transfer to Passikudah and enjoy a leisurely cycling tour of the Polonnaruwa area, covering around 10 kilometres on a flat route. Discover the local way of life and pass through beautiful scenery, before being driven into the city for an optional tour the ancient, time-frozen ruins.

Distance from Dambulla: 250km

Days 8-11/14: Passikudah

Wind down the adventure at a luxury resort on the golden shores of Passikudah, transferring back to Colombo for your return flight on day 11 or 14.
