Serene stay in a magnificent Norway spa hotel
Farris Bad, Larvik

Property details
It’s unexpectedly cool at this futuristic property in the under-the-radar town of Larvik, on Norway’s south coast. Opened in 2009, Farris Bad fast became a go-to spot for guests seeking a relaxed stay with beach access and top-notch pampering. And, best of all, it’s within driving distance of Oslo - Norway’s easy-going capital, offering endless amounts of breathtaking natural landscapes.
The accommodation here wows with a combo of dark and light woods, warm colour tones and contemporary decor. Standard rooms come with a plush king-size bed, but if you feel like upgrading further, the stylish Superior rooms and Deluxe rooms come with private balconies and spectacular ocean views. The hotel has not only garnered a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, but also a Travellers' Choice 2018 award.
Amenities:
- En-suite bathroom
- Wi-Fi
- Nespresso machine (Superior and Deluxe rooms only)
- Balcony or terrace (Superior and Deluxe rooms only)
Dining
Creative cuisine with a Norwegian accent is the focus of the hotel’s signature restaurant - a stylish space that opens for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sink into the soft cushions of the Strandterassen beach terrace (wrapped up in a blanket and under the cosy heat lamps on colder days) or, for day-to-night lounging, there’s a lovely bar where kicking back with wine, coffee, and bottles of craft beer are very much in order.
Spa
Farris Bas has the largest spa facilities in Scandinavia at 2,500 square metres. The showstopping spa is kitted out with a pool, waterfall, sauna, steam bath, ice bath, sublime treatment rooms, and 55-metre mineral-rich spring - as the first Nordic balneological health resort, we'd expect no less.
Take your pick from the huge amount of massages, facials, body rubs and wraps on offer - or book one of the more decadent spa packages, such as Couples Dream Escape or Love Package for Two. There’s also a gym with Technogym equipment, scheduled classes to balance both body and mind, and a spa boutique selling products by Babor, Decléor, bareMinerals, Elemis, and the hotel’s own signature range.
Please note the spa is adults-only and restricted to guests under the age of 16. Spa treatments are also chargeable.
Location
You’ll be staying right by the beach in Larvik, one of the largest towns along Norway's south coast that’s celebrated for its working port, great museums, and stunning Bøkeskogen beech forest. Highlights include the 17th-century Herregården Manor House for its classic Baroque timber exteriors, the Larvik Maritime Museum for its superb collection of model ships, and the wave-shaped Bølgen cultural centre for its concerts, film screenings, and art exhibitions.
Farris Bad is a 10-minute walk from Larvik Train Station, a 20-minute taxi ride from Torp Sandefjord Airport, and just over a 90-minute drive from Oslo.
Good to know
Only Farris swimwear is allowed in the spa; swimwear is included in the price.
