We’d say the biggest draw to a stay at The King’s Head is the unparalleled access to the scenic North York Moors National Park. A sprawling 550 square miles, this vast parkland is home to wild moorland, thick forest, verdant dales and even dramatic coastline. Explore the footpaths and trails on foot or by bike, taking in the kind of views that inspired Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights. For a spot of history, the ruined medieval castle of Whorlton Castle is a casual 15-minute drive away, and a little further south you’ll find Mount Grace Priory, with its stunning house and gardens. Fans of the Harry Potter franchise will want to make the 50-minute journey through the National Park to ride the North York Moors Steam Railway, which doubled as the magical Hogwarts Express.
