Quinta da Bela Vista is situated in an elevated position overlooking the bay of Funchal (Madeira's capital city) and the mountains. Funchal itself is just a 10-minute drive away, and there you'll find the Sé Cathedral, the Frederico de Freitas Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art, as well as a colourful market and street art on Rua de Santa Maria.
