Travel by boat for a once-in-a-lifetime stay on a historic Solent fort, with boat transfers, breakfast, three-course dinner and a guided tour
Take to the water for an unforgettable stay in a converted sea fort in the Solent – an ambitious new addition to the original Spitbank Fort. No Man's Fort was built between 1865 and 1880, as part of four forts that were designed to protect Portsmouth from attack. Since they were never used in active defence, they became known as the 'Palmerston's Follies' – after the prime minister of the time. Only open since spring 2015, this once impenetrable island has been transformed into a luxury space and, conversely, invites intruders to its sanctuary all year round.
No Man's Fort is brimming with excitement; from exploring its own lighthouse to walking 'the street', you'll never be far from a unique slice of fun. You'll find break-neck RIB rides on offer (pre-booking required), and there's a dedicated spa for some relaxation time (pre-booking required). Across No Man's Fort's 75,000 square feet, you'll also find two serene rooftop hot tubs, a glowing fire pit and a fully packed games room with billiards, pool and snooker.
Good to know
Please be aware that No Man's Fort is a weather-dependent venue and may have to postpone or rearrange stays if transits cannot be performed safely.
Guests will check in at 11.30am and depart for the fort at 12pm; return transfers to the quays will be arranged upon check-out. Please note that boat transfer departure times are strict, and transfers will not be re-arranged for late arrivals who miss the boat; guests are advised to allow plenty of time to spare.
As seen on TV:
Staying at this new and truly unusual hotel, set in an old Solent fort
Having boat transfers included for a fuss-free experience
Wrapping up around the rooftop firepit with hot chocolate at night
