Combine a fabulously rich Oman tour with island beach bliss on Thailand's Koh Samet - including five exciting Oman excursions, breakfast and all travel

The amazing Arabian country of Oman remains a relatively undiscovered gem, with pearly white beaches, turquoise seas, rolling dunes, river valleys (wadis) and rocky mountains. By contrast, Thailand has long been a tourist favourite, yet the idyllic isle of Koh Samet retains an unspoilt air, with deserted bays, lush jungle interior and crystal clear waters

You'll begin by flying to the Omani capital of Muscat, where you'll stay at the Best Western Premier Muscat for seven nights. This makes an ideal base for the five exciting tours that await - offering a perfect introduction to this diverse country. Get your bearings with a half-day city tour of Muscat, taking in its walled city and imposing Portuguese fortresses. Next you'll head out on a full day's excursion to Wadi Shab, with azure pools, waterfalls and terraced plantations, plus a chance to take a cooling dip in a submerged cave. Your next foray is a half-day trip to the quaint town of Fanja (famous for its pottery souk) and Nakhal (known for its fort and springs). A real holiday highlight is an action-packed day trip to the soaring out-of-this-world dunes of Wahiba Sands, with a stop at Wadi Bani Khalid, known for its fantastically shaped eroded rocks. Finally, you'll enjoy a day's excursion to the holy city of Nizwa, famous for its 17th-century fort and cattle market.

After all that excitement it's time to wind down completely with a tranquil beach stay on the idyllic Thai isle of Koh Samet, some of which is a designated national park. After flying to Bangkok you'll be whisked by private transfer and speedboat shuttle for a six-night sojourn at Ao Prao Resort on the west coast of the island. Set directly on a dazzling white-sand beach, the waters in the bay are warm and crystal-clear. Watching the sun set over the sea from here each evening is a truly memorable experience. Top up your tan, hide away in the comfort of your room, snorkel, dive or indulge in water sports - the options are plentiful and the choice is yours. After seven days of blissful rest and relaxation, you'll reluctantly catch your flight back home.
