Ho Chi Minh City

A fascinating Vietnam adventure to six destinations, with highlights including a luxury junk ship cruise around Lan Ha Bay, a lagoon retreat near ancient Hue and a five-star beach break, plus perks including numerous spa treatments

Days 1-3: Hanoi

Hugging the easternmost tip of the Indochina Peninsula, Vietnam boasts miles of coastline and some of the most phenomenal scenery on the planet. It’s a country that can put your head in a spin, perhaps most of all in the capital city. Discover the history-steeped Old Quarter and the grandeur of Hanoi's monumental Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, pausing for banh mi and rich local coffee.

Distance from Noi Bai International airport: 25km

Days 3-5: Lan Ha Bay

After your first stay in Hanoi, you’ll head off on the greatest adventure of your trip. Set sail through both Halong Bay and Lan Ha Bay, a less-crowded version of its beautiful neighbour, spending three days and two nights aboard a luxurious Amour Cruises ship. While on board, explore Lan Ha Bay’s stunning limestone islands, mysterious caves and sparkling waters with activities like kayaking and swimming, visit unique Viet Hai fishing village and peaceful Ba Ham Lake. On board, try your hand at fishing and watch a Vietnamese cooking demonstration.

Distance from Hanoi: 120km (round trip)

Days 5-6: Hanoi

Return to Hanoi for an overnight stay before your next adventure.

Days 6-9: Cau Hai Lagoon, Huế

Next, you’ll travel to a unique hideaway set beside one of the largest lagoons in Southeast Asia, in a lush forest between the imperial city of Hue and charming Hoi An. Cau Hai Lagoon is fed from rivers that flow from the mountains bordering Laos and is home to a long-established fishing community and surrounded by verdant rice paddies. Away from the serenity of the water, ancient Hue is under two hours away by car, and there are a string of uncrowded, undeveloped beaches along the central coast.

Distance from Phu Bai International airport: 25km

Days 9-12: Hoi An

This low-rise town was once a bustling port city and as such, features a vibrant mix of architecture with French Colonial, Chinese and Japanese influences. After exploring the lantern-lit Ancient Town, stroll along the river and pop into one of the many trendy cafes that offer traditional Vietnamese coffee. There are also numerous bars that serve ice-cold mugs of bia hoi - a freshly brewed light lager that’s perfect for Vietnam’s weather. If you're in the mood for coastal diversions instead, a 10-minute drive will take you to An Bang Beach.

Distance from Cau Hai Lagoon: 85km

Days 12-17: Danang

Da Nang is not only a pulsating city - the third largest in Vietnam - but one of the country’s most upscale beach destinations, with miles of golden coastline peppered with cutting-edge modernist hotels. While beach activities are an obvious choice for an afternoon of sand and sea, there's plenty to lure you from your sun lounger too. A 10-minute drive will take you to the awe-inspiring Marble Mountains - an outcrop of five jagged limestone and marble hills. Inside lies a network of tunnels, caves and Buddhist temples. Make your way through Am Phu cave until you emerge at the mountain’s peak, surrounded by a spectacular panorama.

Distance from Hoi An: 15km

Days 17-19: Ho Chi Minh City

For your last stop, you'll travel to Ho Chi Minh City and bed down at the classic Equatorial Hotel Ho Chi Minh City. From your central location, discover colonial landmarks like the 19th-century Central Post Office and the awe-inspiring Notre-Dame Cathedral. Delve into the country’s fascinating history, influences of which can be seen in the tantalising local food around every corner. And when you need a break from the buzz at street level, ascend to the rooftop pool - the swim-up bar is just the place to wind down at the end of an incredible adventure.

Distance from Tan Son Nhat International airport: 10km
