Golfing aside, St Andrews is a beautiful and historic town and home to Scotland's oldest university. Be sure to visit the Botanical Gardens, the stunning gothic ruins of St Andrews Cathedral and the three wide sand dune beaches of West Sands, East Sands and Castle Sands - so named for the austere and dramatic structure in whose shadow it sits.
