Location and what's nearby

static map

Ul. Maršala Tita 143, 51410, Opatija, Croatia

Rich in history and pleasing views, Opatija’s a giant step up from some of the blocky limestone resort towns along Croatia’s sparkling Adriatic Coast – it’s known as the ‘pearl of the Adriatic’, after all. During the heyday of the Austro-Hungarian empire, the little seaside escape was favoured by the elite, which goes some way to explain the rather grand Belle Époque mansions that jostle with the more modern additions.

Must-do activities include invigorating coastal walks along the 12 kilometre-long Lungomare – the seafront promenade, to search for sheltered coves; hikes up to Mount Ucka or dining out in the harbourfront restaurants.
