Discover idyllic Croatian life with a self-drive tour, staying at three distinctive hotels - on a half-board basis throughout with flights, car hire, plenty of spa perks and more

Novigrad

First up is Novigrad, a quaint old town in western Croatia. Your location by the marina is complemented by the nautical-themed Hotel Nautica, your base for the first three nights. Head out to recline on the nearby beach or discover outdoorsy activities, ranging from horse riding and paintballing to, of course, sailing. Those inclined to explore further afield can top their to-do list with the Euphrasian Basilica, a UNESCO World Heritage that can be found in the nearby town of Pore.

Lošinj

Nicknamed the ‘Island of Vitality’ and quite possibly Croatia's best-kept secret, the tiny island of Lošinj in the northern Adriatic is all about secluded beaches, tranquil fishing villages and plenty of sunshine. Set in the quiet town of Veli Lošinj, the Vitality Hotel Punta is near a rocky and clean Blue Flag beach. Trip-worthy highlights include the 18th-century Church of St Anthony, the Gothic-style Church of St Nicholas, and the Lošinj Marine Educational Centre that houses permanent and temporary multimedia exhibits.

Krk

Cast adrift from mainland Croatia, the sprawling island of Krk is home to Vrbnik, an ancient village perched on a rugged limestone cliff edging the eastern coast, ringed by manicured vineyards and glistening Adriatic views. The cobbled alleyways of Vrbnik are well worth wandering, with their quiet cafes and restaurants. Wander around until you find Klančić, the narrowest street in the world, measuring only 40 centimetres wide. Head a little way down the coast for the day to Mala Laka beach, an idyllic, quiet stretch of sand, perfect for taking a dip in the warm Adriatic.
