Road Lands of Seven Colours, Chamarel 90404, Mauritius

You’ll be staying in Chamarel, the small village nestled in the mountains that dominate the south-west coast of Mauritius (there’s the Cape Bay River on one side and the Chamarel Mountain on the other). Must-dos include visiting the Morne Lagoon and Bénitiers Island, learning about the local flora and fauna, and enjoying a slew of activities at Lavillleon Natural Forest (brave a 260-metre-long zip-line over a canyon, take a 200-metre-high bridge walk, or try your hand at archery).

Also visit-worthy is the Seven Coloured Earths, a unique volcanic geological phenomenon resulting in seven colours of earth swirled together to create a mesmerising feature (there are many places to stop to admire the exquisite view and take spectacular photos – one of which is a 83-metre-high waterfall).
