Paralia, Potos 640 02, Greek Islands

There are fewer Greek islands more enchanting than Thassos – a jewel of a place nicknamed Emerald of the Aegean for its picture-perfect landscape of lush green forests and olive groves. Being largely untouched by mass tourism, Thassos remains something of a well-kept secret for those wanting a taste of the real Greece.

You’ll be staying in Potos, a village on the south coast of the island with plenty of traditional charm. Stroll around its narrow streets filled with shops and bars, make a beeline for the beach and while the day away, or simply enjoy a freshly caught seafood speciality at one of the local tavernas. Further thrills include the Giola lagoon, a circular lagoon with a distinct colour surrounded by white rock, and the mant boat tours that give you access to otherwise secluded parts of the island.
Five-star booking service? You bet.
