A stunning and relaxing Staffordshire manor with a spa
The turreted stone archway of Hoar Cross Hall greets you on arrival at this 50-acre park. The impressive residence epitomises the word 'retreat', combining modern luxury with true heritage in a stunning rural setting. The icing on the cake? A generously equipped spa complete with a variety of pools, aqua massage and aqua detox therapies, sensory showers, a Nordic suite and a tranquil relaxation space.
The hotel's history can be enjoyed in the long gallery, where oak-panelled walls are lined with tapestries and oil paintings, while a decadent afternoon tea and seasonal produce at the refined restaurant make up a tempting menu on the dining front. With a range of outdoor spaces to choose from, if you do wander from the sublimity of the spa space, you're spoiled for choice – the grounds are made up of formal gardens, woodland, parkland, lakes, and even croquet and archery facilities.
Good to know
Both check-in and access to the spa facilities are guaranteed from 3pm. While check-out is by 11am, guests may stay and use the spa facilities until 5:30pm.
Please be aware that guests at this hotel must be over the age of 16.
We advise guests to pre-book spa treatments as soon as possible with the hotel. Treatment times can’t always be guaranteed so it’s best to book ahead to save disappointment. Please also note that afternoon tea must be pre-booked and pre-paid for.
Guests should also be aware that allocated rooms are Doubles, however, if you would prefer a Twin room, please contact the hotel directly. If guests do not pre-book Twin rooms, these cannot be guaranteed on the day of arrival.
Elegance meets comfort in Hoar Cross Hall individually designed and decorated bedrooms. Rooms are furnished with antique paintings befitting the historic surroundings. Classic rooms are bright and spacious, with many looking onto the formal gardens or woodland at the back of the hotel, or the Italian water garden at the front.
Luxury rooms are found in both the grand, original East Wing with splendid views of the formal gardens, and the newer West Wing looking out over the woodland or the Italian water garden. Most rooms have a luxurious whirlpool bath.
Breakfast at this hotel is a treat: continental, buffet and a la carte picks are available, as well as an egg station offering all manner of cooked-to-order dishes, while the full English breakfast steals the show. Italian and Mediterranean plates can also be savoured over breakfast and lunch at Henry's café and bar, while afternoon tea is available for those seeking out an extra spot of indulgence.
Situated within the William Morris-clad walls of the Ballroom, the restaurant is dedicated to local, seasonal produce and serves contemporary cuisine with exemplary presentation. Herbs from the kitchen garden and vegetables grown in the Victorian greenhouses contribute to a seasonally changing menu.
Hoar Cross Hall boasts an imposing spa with a range of water therapies, including pools, aqua massage, aqua detox, lovely poolside beds to chill out on, and even an Italian water garden to take a peaceful moment in. Make some time for the tropical and mist showers, and enjoy one or two of more than 40 spa treatments available, all using reputable beauty brands such as ELEMIS and Jessica.
Relaxation areas are well thought out, with heated loungers, poolside beds and more. The Snooze Room and the Atrium Lounge offer seclusion and tranquility for contemplation, and the Sensory Showers illustrate an attention to detail that can be found throughout the whole resort.
There is a large fully equipped gym that offers fitness profiling and one-to-one personal training sessions. If that sounds too serious, get stuck into some archery or croquet and boules.
Nestled in the heart of rural Staffordshire, among the hills of The National Forest, Hoar Cross Hall is nine miles from Burton upon Trent, 22 miles from Derby and 30 miles from Birmingham.
