We won’t blame you for not having heard of Pirna, but now that you have, there’s no excuse for not paying this beautiful town a visit. Ideally located just a 30-minute drive or 20-minute train ride from the centre of Dresden, this idyllic spot offers you the best of both worlds: proximity to city thrills plus tranquil scenery and a charming small-town, old-world vibe. Start by exploring Pirna’s pretty Old Town, one of Saxony’s most beautiful historic centres lined with delightful period buildings plus inviting shops, bars and eateries - all reachable within 20 minutes’ walk or a quick ferry ride across the river.
