Day 1: UK - Moscow

Head to your UK departure airport for your flight to Moscow. On arrival, transfer to the hotel then start exploring this enthralling city on your own.

Day 2: Moscow

Kick-off your first day in Moscow with a visit to Gorki Leninskiye, a complex once used as a retreat for Muscovite Noblemen, and later used by Lenin. Enjoy lunch here, then explore the city’s historic centre, including the Red Square, before taking in the famous Seven Sisters, built by Stalin. (Meals: breakfast, lunch)

Day 3: Moscow

Today you’ll discover the iconic Kremlin, from the majestic Arsenal to the Grand Palace, and the cathedrals with their gold-gilded domes. In the afternoon, visit the impressive Moscow metro stations, and vibrant Arbat Street. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 4: Moscow - St Petersburg

Spend your morning wandering the Tretyakov Galley, then set off for St Petersburg in the afternoon. Your mode of transport? The incredible Sapsan Bullet Train, which will have you whizzing along at up to 250 kilometres an hour, reading St Petersburg (a nine-hour drive) in just four hours. On arrival, transfer to your hotel. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 5: St Petersburg

Spend your morning on a city tour, admiring the Baroque and Neo-classical architecture. Visit the Fortress of St Peter and St Paul, and the pantheon of the Russian Tsars, then spend the rest of the day at leisure. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 6: St Petersburg

A visit to the Winter Palace is on the cards today, one of St Petersburg’s most iconic buildings and former home of the Russian Tsars. Inside, you’ll have a chance to wander the Hermitage Museum, one of the most famous collections of art in the world, including masterpieces by Da Vinci and Rembrandt. Enjoy a free afternoon. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 7: St Petersburg

On your final day in Russia, embark on an excursion to Pushkin, just outside St Petersburg. You’ll gawk at the Catalina Palace, and its Amber Room. Enjoy another free afternoon. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 8: St Petersburg - UK

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight home. (Meals: breakfast)
