A thrilling tour across Chile, taking in the buzzing capital and breathtaking desert, plus the incredible landscapes of Patagonia – includes all travel and scenic excursions

From arid Martian landscapes to brilliant blue lakes flanked by snow-capped peaks, from the ever-present heritage of Andean civilisation to quaint little towns that wouldn't look out of place in central Bavaria – Chile offers awe-inspiring scenery by the bucketload. On this extensive tour, you'll get to fully absorb the rich diversity of this charming South American country and take in some of its most vibrant, historic cities and epic natural wonders.

You'll kick off your holiday with two nights in Santiago – Chile's vibrant capital, which sprawls across a vast valley surrounded by the snow-capped Andes. You'll get to explore on a city tour, discovering the Moneda Palace (the seat of the Government), the colonial architecture of the Plaza de Armas and a sweeping panoramic view of the city from the summit of Santa Lucia Hill. You’ll also take in the luscious Parque Forestal and the artistic neighbourhood of Bellavista.

Next you'll fly to San Pedro de Atacama, a town set on an arid high plateau in the Andes mountains of northeastern Chile, with a dramatic landscape including desert, salt flats, volcanoes, geysers and hot springs. Visit the Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley), which will amaze you with its moon-like terrain and unusual rock formations, a huge sand dune and pink-streaked mountains, all before visiting the salt lagoon of Salares de Atacama.

For even more Andean adventures, you'll head to Patagonia to discover its unimaginable beauty. First, explore the former fishing village of Puerto Natales, before hiking through the stunning Torres del Paine National Park. Home to soaring mountains and glistening glaciers, as well as rare wildlife – including pumas – the highlight is seeing the three granite peaks that the park owes its name to, which emerge majestically into horned shapes in the skyline.
