Located in Vada, close to Livorno on Italy’s western coast, Antico Podere San Francesco is about 40 minutes’ drive from Pisa International Airport, or about an hour and 15 minutes’ drive from Florence’s Amerigo Vespucci Airport. We recommend hiring a car to explore this beautiful region at ease.

The surrounding hills are a prime spot for scenic hikes and bike rides, and are also dotted with historic towns showcasing magnificent medieval and Renaissance architecture. Start in nearby Vada just five minutes’ drive away (perfectly paired with a trip to the beach), or head north for about 40 minutes to reach Livorno, a gorgeous coastal city home to intricate canals, sprawling piazze, a 16th-century fortress and a dazzling seafront promenade. You’ll find Pisa just a little further up, while in the opposite direction you shouldn’t miss Castiglione della Pescaia, a lively port town with quaint cobbled streets, and the impressive Romanesque cathedral at Massa Marittima.
