Elite Hotel Frost, Kiruna, Torggatan 5, 981 30 Kiruna, Sweden

You’ll be staying in the new city centre of Kiruna, a testament to Sweden’s progressive urban evolution as the centre relocates eastwards away from land affected by mining. Admire the shifting city’s futuristic architecture, whilst also tracing Kiruna’s cultural significance in the story of the indigenous Sámi people. Visit a small and special curation of Sámi culture at the Samegården Museum, and of course a more hands-on, immersive forage into Swedish Lapland beckons.

In the summer, enjoy the surreal phenomenon of the midnight sun, illuminating your path as you traverse alpine tundra and dense boreal forests, past rushing rivers and pristine lakes ripe for a swim in warm weather. Come snowy season, with a bit of luck you’ll get to see the otherworldly beauty of the Northern Lights. Course through the snowscape on a snowmobile tour, visit some local reindeer and hit the nearby mountains on skis (or snowshoes).
