Ednam House Hotel

Kelso, Scottish Borders

Classic Courtyard room

Kelso

Escape to a family-run riverside hotel in the scenic Scottish Borders, including breakfast, dinner and afternoon tea options, plus thoughtful extras

Built in 1761, Ednam House Hotel has been run as a hotel since 1928. The House is strewn with charming features, retained from an original spec that spared no expense. Throughout your stay you will find yourself beneath ornate Italianate plastered ceilings, opening intricately carved wooden doors and marveling at crafted stone work fireplaces

Located on the banks of the River Tweed, the old fashioned Scottish tradition of salmon fishing is prevalent throughout the hotel, not least with the construction of its own smoking house by the river. Needless to say, fishing is top of the list for activities in the area, if you’re not too busy conquering castles or exploring the market town of Kelso itself.

If you don’t manage to catch any of your own fish, the hotel’s restaurant serves up its own smoked salmon, along with a variety of other dishes attentively reared or grown on their land.
