Eccleston Square Hotel

Belgravia, London

City King room

Signature King room

A glamorous London stay at a Grade II listed Georgian townhouse turned luxury boutique bolthole on the edge of Belgravia

Adding a contemporary zing to London’s Belgravia, this haven of English luxury opened in 2011 after a £6.5 million refurbishment. Hailed as “one of the most high-tech hotels in the world”, it not only wows with groundbreaking gadgetry, but also with the state-of-the-art interiors that belie its classic Grade II listed Georgian frontage - the building dates back to the 1800s.

The guest rooms are undeniably classy and cool. Expect sleek spaces with advanced amenities such as adjustable Hästens beds, huge 3D Neo plasma Panasonic TVs, and iPad 2s. You’re spoiled further with Italian marble bathrooms filled with L'Occitane aromatherapy products, fluffy bathrobes, and smart-glass shower walls that turn from transparent to opaque at the touch of yet another button.

Although the hotel has no formal restaurant, breakfasts and brunches are available and coffee, champagne or wine by the glass, and light fare is offered throughout the day. Equally splendid is the posh weekend-only afternoon tea menu in honour of the days when the property’s former owner, Princess Victoria of Hesse and by Rhine (later Victoria Mountbatten, Marchioness of Milford Haven) enjoyed a cuppa here with her grandmother, Queen Victoria.
