• Pretty inside and out: Located on a pretty, cobbled street surrounded by pastel-coloured historic buildings, the three separate 14th-century buildings that make up Design Hotel Neruda have been transformed into a boutique property named after the writer Jan Neruda, who lived here in the 19th-century.

• Home from home: Designed by the late Czech architect and designer Borek Sipek, the rooms vary in size and décor but are a stunning mix of historic and contemporary. Guest rooms include abstract artworks of Neruda, parquet or tiled floors, nooks and crannies, statement, oversized headboards and luxe bathrooms, some of which are glass-walled spaces.

• Sightseeing galore: Don't miss the majestic 14th-century Charles Bridge with its Baroque-style statues, 10th-century Vysehrad Castle overlooking the Vltava River, Prague Castle, which is the largest ancient European castle, and the Jewish Quarter which has an impressive 13th-century Old-New Synagogue.
