About 16 miles south of Venice (within the Venice province), Chioggia is fondly known as 'Little Venice' for good reason – here are all the winding canals and old-world charm, but with less tourists and more authenticity. You can hop on a boat tour past ancient churches, colourful houses and the fish market, or take a fishing tour (with a fresh catch served up on board) for a deeper dive into Chioggia’s fishing history. Chioggia town centre is a 20-minute stroll from your hotel.

For a more active day out, hire a bicycle for a stunning, scenic tour of the waterscape and surrounding rural beauty. The Sottomarina coast is perfect for water sports like kayaking and windsurfing, and if you’re tempted by a horse ride on the beach, it’s just a 20-minute drive down the coast to Isola Verde.
