Natur & Aktiv Hotel Rogen, Via del Paese, 9, 39037 Rio di Pusteria BZ, Italy

Italy’s South Tyrol is a stunning region and the gateway to the Dolomites mountain range. The alpine hamlet of Spinges is just four kilometres outside of Rio di Pusteria, a small town surrounded by nature on all sides. Take a tour of fascinating local museums, including one where 5,000-year-old ice mummy Otzi is on display. The surrounding area is home to several Renaissance castles, Gothic cathedrals and romantic old towns with myriad cobblestone streets to wander, like the town of Brixen, with its impressive cathedral and mural. In the winter, skiing destinations are plentiful and all a short distance from the hotel, including Vals-Jochtal-Gitschberg, Plose and Kronplatz, while the summer sees the mountain trails switch to hiking mode, navigating carpets of wildflowers, fragrant alpine herbs and burbling streams.
