Blue Lagoon

A newly-opened boutique pad in central Reykjavik, with a Golden Circle tour including winter Secret Lagoon and summer snowmobiling, optional Blue Lagoon, Glacial Lagoon, Northern Lights and more - with breakfast, a welcome drink and all travel

  • Iceland has it all: a hip capital city and some of the most incredible scenery on the planet. The new Von Guldsmeden Hotel sits in the heart of Reykjavik, with the main shopping district and cultural landmarks on your doorstep. This culturally vibrant city is surrounded by natural wonders, so you'll find plenty of adventure both here and beyond. Aside from all the trips you can indulge in with this action-packed break, there's plenty to do in the Icelandic capital itself.

  • Both winter and summer trips will include a Golden Circle adventure, with an extra pop of excitement in both seasons. In winter, you'll combine these waterfalls and geysirs with a visit to the Secret Lagoon to bathe in soul-warming thermal waters, while in summer, this excursion is combined with a once-in-a-lifetime snowmobile ride across Iceland's second-largest glacier, Langjökull, which stretches for almost 950 square kilometres. In winter, you'll also be seeking out the mesmerising and elusive Northern Lights dancing across the sky on a stargazing tour.

  • There are also an array of thrilling optional excursions for those who can't bear to leave without doing it all. Nature-lovers shouldn't miss a chance to enjoy a whale and dolphin watching cruise, where you may be lucky enough to spot humpback or minke whales, while wellness fans can opt to visit the iconic Blue Lagoon (admission included in summer; admission excluded in winter). The rúsínan í pylsuendanum (raisin at the end of the hot dog, as the Icelandic say), is an optional visit to the Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon, an ethereal wonderland of icebergs protruding through the water's surface on a magical black sand beach.

Good to know

The Northern Lights are a naturally occurring phenomenon and whilst we hope you'll get to see them, it can never be guaranteed.

Please note that the Northern Lights can be observed up until the end of April, and then again from mid August - contrary to popular belief, the end of August is actually a great time to spot them. The official dates for the midnight sun are 16 to 29 June, but you can experience "no darkness" from May to early August.

Please note that the hotel only has double, four-poster beds. Twin beds are not available.
