Good to know

Bovey Castle recently won the Gold Award for the 'Large Hotel of the Year' from Visit Devon

At Bovey Castle, there's very little excuse for not enjoying the fantastic Dartmoor setting. Gazing out over the great, rugged bracken-covered wilderness of Dartmoor beyond there's a sense of immense scale.

There are tours of the area on foot or in a Land Rover, guided by experts in the region's history and geography. Tour the locations that feature in Steven Spielberg's War Horse, or see the landscape from above with a hot air balloon ride, available locally.

The list of outdoor activities continues with archery, clay pigeon shooting, horseback adventures, deer park tours and fly fishing. Attend a sloe gin-making (and drinking) session or try your hand at Crolf, the Bovey Castle's very own eccentric new sport. There's even a championship 18-hole golf course and a 4x4 off-road track.
