An epic Argentina adventure taking in enigmatic cities, UNESCO's Iguazú Falls and a Patagonia glacier, including breakfast, all travel and excursions
Who said you had to choose between nature and culture? This Argentinian adventure encompasses a generous helping of both, from city-slicking in Buenos Aires to witnessing some epic natural wonders, such as the UNESCO-protected Iguazú Falls and the most famous glacier in the world - Perito Moreno.
It all starts amidst the charisma of Buenos Aires – the birthplace of the passionate Tango – where an included city tour will see you visiting colourful La Boca, the majestic architecture of La Recoleta, the historic old town and the markets of San Telmo. With some time at leisure here, too, why not discover the hip dining spots of upscale Palermo, before moving on to your next destination.
Iguazú is up next, where you’ll visit the Argentinian side of Iguazú Falls, following 800 metres of suspended walkways to watch the water thundering down the heartstopping 80-metre drop from an incredible vantage point. You can opt to take a boat under the water to get even closer, or go wild for Iguazu Great Adventure, which will see you enter the jungle, sail upon rapids, observe the Devil’s Throat and admire the incomparable San Martín waterfall. The following day, you’ll venture to the Brazilian border for an alternative – but equally as awesome – experience of the Falls.
Next, you'll transfer to Salta in the Lerna Valley, where you'll enjoy an excursion that takes in the stunning scenery, from narrow valleys to soaring mountains, with plenty of panoramic vistas along the way. Then, you'll take a 4x4 through the Tropic of Capricorn Pass, witnessing the vibrant colours of the Pollera de la Colla hill, before moving on to El Calafate, near the edge of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field.
From El Calafate, you'll journey to the magnificent Perito Moreno - the most famous glacier in the world - where you'll take a tour of the Glacier National Park and view Lake Argentino - the country's biggest freshwater lake. You'll have a day at leisure in El Calafate before heading back to Buenos Aires for one more night, after which, you'll board an overnight flight home.
