The hotel is around a five-hour drive from London via the M1 and M6, and just over a couple of hours from Manchester. We recommended that you travel by car to make the most of your rural location.

On the shores of Lake Ullswater and at the foot of the Helvellyn mountain range, this is one of the most picturesque locations imaginable. Long walks will take you past waterfalls, fells, woodland, valleys and, of course, the occasional olde worlde pub. At reception, you can arrange to go sailing on the lake, visit nearby Ullswater 'Steamers' or visit the local National Trust sites, like Aira Force, just two miles from the hotel. Unsurprisingly, the inn has garnered a Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence.
