  • Amazing Alpine abode: The family-run Alpenhotel Heimspitze has been thrilling guests as a traditional Austrian experience for 80 years, and there’s no sign of this slowing down any time soon, as the custody of it has now been entrusted to the family’s fourth generation. Indeed, while the hotel retains much of its original charm, there’s no denying that it’s moved with the times, fitted as it is with all the most up-to-date amenities and pleasantries, so it’s ready to delight today's guests as much as it did in the 30s.

  • Fresh food: Dining here is a treat in every sense of the word. Most of the ingredients used in the exquisite dishes are grown in the hotel’s own garden, and any that need to come from slightly further afield are entrusted to a select group of very local suppliers and farmers. The result? A symphony of homemade flavour, quality and care. The cuisine is varied, ranging from age-old regional specialities to French, Italian and Mediterranean dishes. Needless to say, there’s a full and eclectic wine list, so you can count on finding the perfect pairing to any meal.

How to get there

Alpenhotel Heimspitze is in Gargellen, Austria. It takes a little over two hours to drive from Flughafen Zürich Airport; if you’re arriving with your own car there are plenty of parking options at the hotel.

Good to know

At breakfast there’s a varied and extensive breakfast buffet with Bio Vital Corner, as well as an extra breakfast chef who prepares all egg dishes and warm breakfast dishes freshly and à la carte. For dinner there’s an excellent five-course menu to choose from every evening, a typical Austrian three-course menu Viennese style on Mondays and an eight -course gala menu every Thursday.
