The hotel is located on the tranquil southwest coast of the island, known for its year-round sunshine and sub-tropical climate. Away from the tourist hotspots, Calheta village has a laid-back vibe and if you fancy splashing out there are plenty of good restaurants and bars. For snacks and essentials there’s a well-stocked supermarket opposite the hotel.

A great day away from the beach can be spent exploring the waterways (levadas) that wind their way through the mountains. Funchal, the island’s capital, is a dramatic 30-minute drive away through plenty of tunnels and is home to the renowned botanical gardens with incredible vistas, plus a whole host of historic buildings for history buffs.
