Property details

A sparkling Italian Lakes stay moments from the shores of Lake Garda at a restored 18th-century villa with stunning lake views, beautiful gardens and a gorgeous pool – includes breakfast, optional dinner, a wine tasting and a welcome drink
  • Lavish lakes escape: The jaw-droppingly lovely setting of Hotel Porta del Sole is just one of its many attributes: situated a mere six kilometres from the shores of Lake Garda, the hotel looks out from its elevated hillside perch towards the shimmering expanse of the lake. All around, beautifully tended gardens provide a gloriously green backdrop, while the position is the perfect jumping off point for golfing excursions, hiking adventures, slow drives through pretty towns and villages, or gourmet trips to restaurants, wineries, and more.

  • Historic charm: Characterful elements of the storied 18th-century building run through the design inside and out, from its distinctive arched façade to its frescoed rooms, exposed stone detail and charming wood floors. Of particular note is the serene outdoor swimming pool, inset with its own island shaded by a 150-year-old olive tree.

  • Lofty views: The best views of the lake can be seen from the rooftop terrace, which is where you’ll dine each morning on a sumptuous breakfast. Return in the evening for high-quality ingredients whipped up into Italian classics at Belvedere Restaurant. For daily refreshments, sip on coffees and cocktails around the pool from the stylish bar.

Hotel Porta del Sole, Via Omodeo, 3, 25080 Soiano BS, Italy

Italy’s largest lake, Lake Garda is one of the country’s most popular holiday destinations on account of its jaw-dropping mountain scenery, lakeside restaurants and gelaterias, watersports and wine tourism. The lake is lined with spectacular towns and villages where the region’s delectable cuisine and delicious wines are served, many with stunning views of the surrounding water and mountains.

You’ll be staying 20 minutes from the resort town of Sirmione - the so-called Jewel of Lake Garda. Must-dos in this medieval walled town include hitting the historic centre for its amazing gelato shops, checking out the thermal springs that bubble up from the lakebed, getting wonderfully lost in the maze of tiny pedestrianised streets, and gazing at the brilliantly preserved 13th-century Scaligero Castle. Further Lake Garda thrills include visiting La Valtenesi for its tiny villages, Moniga del Garda for its castle, Desenzano for its high-end boutiques and Manerba del Garda for its frescoed churches.

If golf is one of your passions, you’re in luck: the hotel is right next door to Gardagolf Country Club, which offers 27 holes with a stunning view over the lake.
