Nyköping is a classically Scandi coastal town with a rich medieval history, positioned on a stretch of beautiful Baltic coastline peppered with pretty islets. Nyköping Castle is well worth a visit, its old walls etched with some grisly medieval stories. Inside, you’ll find a museum, while a visit to the Sörmland Museum exhibits more of the region’s rich culture.

There are plenty of artisanal shops and charming bakeries to visit in town. Stock up on baked goods before heading along stunning coastal trails out of town. Linudden Nature Reserve is ideal for shaded ambles through the forest, while Jogersö Beach is a dreamy spot for a swim on warmer days. There are also plenty of nearby spots for fishing if you fancy.
