The Palm Jumeirah is THE address in Dubai: close to all the sights, well-connected by shuttle services and with plenty nearby to keep you occupied should you wish to just fly and flop. If you’d prefer to head out into the city, perhaps try one of the air-conditioned megamalls: Mall of the Emirates has a ski slope, while Dubai Mall has 12,000 stores from luxury fashion to local start-ups. For a more local feel, make a trip to Al Bastakiya neighbourhood to learn about Emirati culture and heritage – don’t miss the Arabian Tea House.
