A fabulous stay at a new, movie-inspired London bolthole in the heart of buzzing Leicester Square, including breakfast
Providing movie-loving guests with a front row seat to Leicester Square’s glitzy and glam film premieres, Victory House MGallery by Sofitel in the heart of London’s West End is undeniably one of the capital’s hottest 2017 hotel launches. And the setting is just as clever, with Chinatown to its north, Trafalgar Square to its south, Covent Garden to its east, and Piccadilly Circus to its west.
Housed in the former Hôtel de l’Europe that was built in 1898, this just-opened property wows with a grandiose terracotta facade and a slew of rather impressive interiors (it was designed by architects Michealis Boyd, who worked on Soho Farmhouse and Babington House). There’s an ever-present film theme pretty much everywhere, from the black and white stills of 1950s movie stars in the corridors to the same-era silent films cleverly projected in the lift and lobby.
On the accommodation front, rooms come with calming colour palettes and more 1950s movie prints. Equally memorable is Le Petit Bistro – the chic French-inspired dining spot headed up by acclaimed restaurateurs, Ed Baines and Jamie Poulton (founders of the highly acclaimed Randall and Aubin in nearby Soho).
