Day 1: UK - Beijing

Arrive at your UK departure airport for your flight to Beijing. Spend the night on board. (Meals: none)

Day 2: Beijing

Arrive in Beijing and transfer to Wyndham Bejing North. Explore the city at your leisure. (Meals: none)

Day 3: Beijing

After breakfast, take a half-day tour of the Temple of Heaven, where you might see locals perform Tai Chi. After, you’ll visit a pearl factory to learn about its production. Opt for a Hutong Excursion and take a rickshaw down the narrow streets of Bejing, stopping in a local house for a dumpling lunch (£73 per person), or choose to attend a Kung Fu dinner show at the Red Theatre (£49 per person). (Meals: breakfast)

Day 4: Beijing

Toady, you've got a bucket-list experience ahead. Visit a jade workshop en route to one of the wonders of the world; the Great Wall of China. Enjoy a tour and a walk on the wall before returning to Beijing, stopping to see the Beijing Olympic Park on the way. In the evening, opt to attend a Golden Mask show with dinner (£49 per person). Day 5: Beijing

Your last day in Bejing can be spent at leisure, or you could opt for a full-day Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City excursion (£122 per person) or take in a Golden Mask Show, which tells the story of the legendary Golden Mask Dynasty (£49 per person). (Meals: breakfast)

Day 6: Beijing - Xi'an

After breakfast, transfer from Beijing to Xi’an by bullet train. Upon arrival, check into your hotel. You’ll have the rest of the day of leisure, so why not head to the South Gate Old City Wall and go shopping in the city's Muslim Quarter. There's also an optional Tang Dynasty show and dinner in the evening (£49 per person). (Meals: breakfast)

Day 7: Xi-an

Today you'll visit one of China's most iconic sights - the Terracotta Warriors. You'll learn about the history of these iconic figures, then visit the local terracotta factory and the Yanyuan Art Museum, where you'll learn more about Chinese calligraphy. You'll also have the option to take in the city at night, with a tour of the Old City of Xi'an, stopping off at the Wild Goose pagoda, the North Square and the Music Fountain (£30 per person). (Meals: breakfast)

Day 8: Xi-an - Shanghai

This morning, take the high-speed train to Shanghai. You’ll go on a walking tour of Nanjing Road and the Bund neighbourhood. In the evening, opt to embark on a Huangpu River cruise with dinner (£59 per person). (Meals: breakfast)

Day 9: Shanghai

After breakfast, head out on a full-day tour of Shanghai, visiting the Old Bazaars, Yuyuan Garden, Shanghai Museum and an authentic silk factory. Your optional activity tonight is a dinner and acrobatic show (£54 per person). (Meals: breakfast)

Day 10: Shanghai

Spend your last full day exploring Shanghai at your own pace, taking in the Bund and sampling street food. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 11: Shanghai - UK

After breakfast, check out of your hotel and transfer to the airport to catch your flight home. (Meals: breakfast)

What is a deposit?

In short, you pay Secret Escapes a non-refundable deposit to secure your holiday, then you pay the holiday supplier the remaining balance of the holiday - as advertised - at a later date (before you travel).

We've added deposit-only sales to enable our members to get early-bird access to more amazing holidays, and because we know that planning and paying for a holiday can take time.
