Day 1: UK - night on board

Arrive at your airport and catch your flight to Shanghai. Spend the night on board.

Days 2-4: Shanghai

Spend time at leisure in Shanghai. On your second day in the city, you'll embark on a walking tour of Nanjing road and the Bund neighbourhood, plus visit an authentic Silk Factory before heading into the bustling Old City Bazaar for a taste of the local culture. Optional excursions include a city tour and a Huangpu River cruise with dinner. On day four, you can opt to visit Suzhou with an acrobatic show dinner in the evening. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 5: Shanghai - Beijing

Transfer to the train station to catch a bullet train to Beijing. Arrive in Beijing, famed for its ancient sites such as the iconic Forbidden City, and as being the gateway to some of the most visited portions of the Great Wall. (Meals: breakfast)

Days 6-8: Beijing

On your first morning, enjoy a tour of the fantastic Temple of Heaven, a religious complex used by the emperors of the Quing and Ming dynasties. Afterwards, visit a local Pearl Factory for a fascinating insight into the production of these precious jewels. Later on, opt to enjoy an evening kung fu show. On your second day here, you'll set off to the best-preserved section of the Great Wall of China, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On the way, admire the countryside and stop at an impressive Jade Workshop, where artisans work with this precious stone. On the way back to Beijing, visit a traditional Chinese Medicine factory, and stop at the famous Olympic Park. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 9: Beijing - Xi'an

Hop aboard a bullet train today to Xi'an. Upon arrival, enjoy a visit to the Muslim Quarter of the city. Then, opt for a Tang dynasty show and dinner for an evening of entertainment. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 10: Xi'an

Today, discover one of China's most iconic sights as you enjoy a visit to the Terracotta Warriors Museum, where around 8,000 sculted figures were buried alongside Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China. Then, visit the local Terracotta Factory and Yanyuan Art Museum, to learn about the ancient art of Chinese Calligraphy, and even try it out for yourself. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 11: Xi'an - Chengdu

Head to Chengdu today via train, headed to the Panda Base, home to the iconic and elusive giant pandas, one of the most endangered animals in the world. After getting up close to these beautiful creatures, head to the Panda Museum and the Shu Embroidery Museum for an insight into one of China's most prestigious traditions of embroidery. (Meals: breakfast)

Days 12 - 13: Chengdu

Enjoy two days at your leisure in Chengdu. Otherwise, opt for plenty of local excursions. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 14: Chengdu - Lhasa

Transfer to the airport for a flight to Lhasa. Arrive at Lhasa 's Gonggar Airport and meet your guide, who will be waiting with a traditional offering of a Khada, Tibetan Scarf. Spend the rest of the day relaxing and acclimatising to the altitude at your leisure. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 15: Lhasa - Potala Palace - Jokhang Temple - Lhasa

Breakfast at the hotel. This morning, visit Potala Palace, the winter residence of the Dalai Lamas and one of the most iconic landmarks in the world. In the afternoon, visit Jokhang Temple, the spiritual heart of Tibetan Buddhism. Afterwards, explore the surroundings of Barkhor and the old town of Lhasa. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 16: Lhasa

Enjoy a day at your leisure in Lhasa. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 17 · Lhasa - night on board - UK

Breakfast at the hotel. At the indicated time, transfer to the airport and check in for your return flight back to the UK. (Meals: breakfast)
