Day 1: UK - Beijing

Depart on an overnight flight to Beijing.

Day 2: Beijing

Arrive in Beijing and transfer to your hotel, spending the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 3: Beijing

Embark on an optional Temple of Heaven tour, where you can watch locals practice Tai Chi, then visit a Pearl Factory. In the afternoon, opt for a Hutong neighbourhood excursion (£91 per person) and a Kung Fu dinner experience in the evening (£59 per person). (Meals: breakfast)

Day 4: Beijing

Visit a jade workshop on the way to the Great Wall of China. Spend several hours walking the hallowed walls of this world-wonder, then enjoy lunch before seeing Beijing Olympic Park. Enjoy a Beijing roast duck dinner at the hotel. In the evening, there's an optional Golden Mask show (£51 per person). (Meals: dinner)

Day 5: Beijing

Spend a day exploring at your leisure, or opt for an excursion to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City (£97 per person).

Day 6: Beijing - Xi'an


Transfer from Beijing to Xi’an by train. Upon arrival, check into your hotel, then go shopping in the city's Muslim Quarter. This evening, opt for a Tang Dynasty show and dinner (£54 per person). (Meals: breakfast)

Day 7: Xi'an

Visit the Terracotta Warriors Museum, the local terracotta factory and the Yanyuan Art Museum, where you'll learn more about Chinese calligraphy. Opt for a tour of the Old City in the evening. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 8: Xi'an - Zhangjiajie

Enjoy a day at leisure to explore Xi'an further. In the evening, transfer to the airport for a flight to Zhangjiajie, in one of China’s most stunning mountainous regions. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 9: Zhangjiajie

Set off to Zhangjiajie National Park, full of mist-covered mountains and sandstone formations. Visit the Hallelujah Mountain, the inspiration for Avatar, and its surrounding sights before taking a cable car down. Opt to visit the Glass Bridge (£65 per person), then opt to attend a Xianzi dance show in the evening (£59 per person). (Meals: breakfast)

Day 10: Zhangjiajie

After a night’s rest, head back to the park to discover more sights, then opt to visit the Yellow Dragon Cave, the largest cave in China (£102 per person). (Meals: breakfast)

Day 11: Zhangjiajie - Shanghai

Spend your day at leisure, or opt to visit Tianmen Mountain (£107 per person). Fly to Shanghai and check into your hotel. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 12: Shanghai

Full-day tour of Shanghai, visiting the Bund, Yu Garden, Shanghai Museum and an authentic silk factory. Return to the hotel. Optional dinner and river cruise (£65 per person). (Meals: breakfast)

Day 13: Shanghai

Day at leisure in Shanghai. Opt to visit the Suzhou Gardens with a boat ride (£134 per person). (Meals: breakfast)

Day 14: Shanghai - Night on board

Transfer to the airport to catch your flight home. (Meals: breakfast)
