This is one of the best places in the whole of Asia to spot wild elephants, and during the dry season, there can be over 350 indivduals surrounding the central Minneriya Tank. Other species to spot here include water buffalo, sambar deer and peacocks. (Meals: half-board basis)

It’s known for its tea plantations, and you’ll get the chance to see how tea is picked, rolled, withered and processed with a visit to a local tea factory. You’ll then drive the three-and-a-half-hour journey back to Kandy, admiring the beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding countryside as you drive. (Meals: half-board basis)
