A room with a balcony at a new skyscraper hotel overlooking New York City, with a rooftop pool, buzz-worthy dining and easy access to downtown Manhattan

How do you get a whole borough of too-cool-for-school hipsters’ tongues wagging? Design a cutting-edge, modern-skyscraper hotel, align yourself with a leading hospitality group, and hire its acclaimed restaurateurs to develop your dining plan. This is the approach that Williamsburg’s The William Vale has taken, and so far, it’s working. The newly opened property has already won itself a profile in Brooklyn’s Brownstoner, not to mention others in Haute Living and Condé Nast Traveler.

Helmed by Andrew Carmellini – the chef who brought you The Dutch (South Beach and NYC editions) and The Greenwich Hotel’s Locanda Verde – the F&B scene is a draw in and of itself. The building, meanwhile, includes an elevated public green space, a panoramic rooftop lounge and New York’s longest hotel pool (open seasonally). And sure, the property may have gotten some great press so far, but that doesn’t mean the cat’s completely out of the bag. The buzz is still building for this promising new property, so make like a hipster, and sleep here before everyone knows it’s cool.

The hotel's sleek accommodations feature unobstructed, New York-skyline views. Each hardwood-floored space boasts a fully furnished balcony and features designer décor, contemporary art and nine-foot floor-to-ceiling windows. King With Balcony rooms measure 260 square feet and include a small sitting area. Their balcony measures 71 square feet, while their master bathroom boasts a separate, glassed-in, rain-style shower.

The dining at The William Vale is overseen by NoHo Hospitality Group, helmed by leading chef Andrew Carmellini. If that name rings a bell, it’s because it’s the name behind such renowned eateries as The Dutch, Bar Primi and iconic Locanda Verde. Among his contributions are Leuca, a Southern Italian restaurant serving up delicious home-made pastas and wood-fired pizzas and coastal dishes, and Westlight, the 22nd-floor rooftop lounge, featuring panoramic views of the city and lights bites. Open seasonally, Mister Dips serves burgers, fries and dairy dips from the property's elevated outdoor promenade.

In the past decade or so, Williamsburg has emerged as a hub for New York’s hipster class, with sleek new bars, fashion-forward clothing shops and numerous music venues having opened in their midst. Aside from offering its own unusual public spaces, including an elevated green space and a rooftop lounge, the stay is near two of them: the Brooklyn Bowl and Music Hall of Williamsburg. Buzzy nightspots and to-go eateries abound on Bedford Avenue, two blocks over.
