Highlights

The Grange Hotel is located in the heart of York. One of the oldest cities in the country, York is a popular tourist destination for shopping (and for good reason) but it usually draws the crowds for its historical sites. York Minister is a definite highlight and is the largest Gothic cathedral in Northern Europe and is immaculately preserved.

Another site not to be missed are the city walls, which are in quite a remarkable state of repair and afford some great views over the city. Whilst there, be sure to check out the fantastic National Railway Museum and The Eboracum Legion bathhouse, which provides a great spot to have lunch, as well as catching a glimpse into the ancient history of the city. One of the top destinations in York – in fact in the north of England – is the Jorvik Viking Centre, a Viking age reconstruction of streets of the city as they would've looked 1,000 years ago.
