A charming stay at a characterful 16th-century pub-with-rooms in the pretty village of Thornham on the North Norfolk Coast - includes breakfast and a dinner allowance

Bringing a touch of glamour to the North Norfolk coast, this revamped 16th-century pub-with-rooms promises style-savvy guests plenty to get excited about. Most fabulous, though, is its location in Thornham - the impossibly pretty and peaceful village close to the Sandringham Estate - the much-loved country retreat of HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.

Following an extensive top-to-bottom refurb, all of the 11 intimate guest rooms assure chic décor; with muted tones, fashionable soft furnishings, carpeted flooring, and modern lighting. Finishing touches include comfy king-size beds dressed with duck down duvets and Missoni throws, Sony Smart TVs with digital channels, and lovely bathrooms with soft towels and ESPA toiletries.

Spend your days bird-watching at the RSPB nature reserves of Titchwell, Holme and Cley, hitting the beaches of Brancaster and Holkham, and visiting the tiny village of Burnham Thorpe - Horatio Nelson’s birthplace. Post-sightseeing, head to the restaurant to sample the rather impressive Norfolk-inspired menu - or hit the beamed bar for a few pints of locally-brewed ale.
